Electronic forms made easy

Zug/Hanover - The Swiss software development company Ringler Informatik AG is introducing its product SnapForms for the first time to a broader public at CeBIT 2006 from 9th to 15th March in Hanover. SnapForms is a software suite for the creation, distribution and further processing of electronic forms.

The use of electronic forms based on the widely used PDF format is often a very tedious and costly business for the various authorities and for other companies. This often entails high license fees if the inputs are to be saved. The creation of complex forms is often very difficult and the users have to download programs that are either very data-intensive or even need to be paid for so as to be able to open and fill out a form. As the developer of the tax preparation program "Dr.Tax", which is used by more than 200,000 users in Switzerland, Ringler Informatik AG has a proven wealth of experience in the field of electronic forms. The company has now put onto the market a complete solution for the creation, distribution and further processing of electronic forms in the shape of the software suite SnapForms. The suite consists of SnapForm Designer, SnapForm Viewer and SnapForm Manager. SnapForm Designer allows you to create multi-page forms with complex business logic without any programming knowledge and to distribute them free of licensing restrictions. PDF documents can be used as a template when doing this. SnapForm Viewer is only 1.8 Mbytes in size and can be downloaded free. It has been completely programmed in Java and is platform-independent. It allows forms to be viewed and filled out, and the inputs to be saved.

QDF: An improved PDF

SnapForms uses as its file type for forms the completely new QDF format (Quick Document Format) that was developed by Ringler Informatik AG. It is "leaner" than PDF and offers multi-level security functions. The input data can be read electronically in XML or binary format. If further processing has to be done on paper due to the requirement for a legally valid signature, intelligent 2D barcodes alleviate the negative effects of this media breakage. SnapForm Manager that is also available is aimed towards users with a large number of different forms in high volumes, such as the tax authorities or banks, for example. It contains intelligent tools for bulk sending, the extraction of data that has been input, bulk printing, PDF output for archiving purposes, and barcode scanning. In this way SnapForms supports the entire life cycle of electronic forms and permits the convenient creation, distribution and further processing of forms that meet the toughest demands despite being significantly cheaper. SnapForm Designer is available for a price of 1,800 Euro onwards in the version for use on one workstation.
